The Poets' House Faculty

The Directors of  The Poets' House are James Simmons and Janice Fitzpatrick Simmons, the poets live and work in their home.  James has published 13 volumes of verse, won The Gregory and Cholmondely Awards and The Society of Authors travelling grant.  He is the author of a critical study of Sean O'Casey, a regular reviewer in The Spectator and has 4 albums of  his own songs.  His latest book of poems is Mainstream (Salmon, 1995).  A new collection The Rat Under The Roses is forthcoming.  Janice Fitzpatrick Simmons has two collections of poems the most recent is Settler  (Salmon , 1995), a new collection  What Springs Whole From The Mind is forthcoming.

Poet in Residence

Cathal O'Searcaigh is the Irish Language poet in residence.  He has been translated into English by Seamus Heaney, Sherod Santos and many others.  His latest book is Out In The Open.

The Irish Language

The Irish Translation and Language teacher is Anna Ni Dhomnaill. A native Irish speaker from an old literary family, she has a broad experience of translating Irish Language poems into English.
